Are Beanie Babies worth anything?

Almost all Beanie Babies sell for a few dollars. A small number of early, rare versions do clear $100, but the five-figure prices you see online are asking prices, not sales.

What most are worth

Ty made Beanie Babies in enormous numbers in the late 1990s, and most buyers kept them as collectibles, so mint examples are everywhere. Tag typos, Princess bears and retired tags are extremely common and rarely add value on their own.

The ones worth $100 or more

How to check yours

  1. Find the heart-shaped swing tag and the tush tag sewn into the seam. The generation of each tag matters more than the toy.
  2. Check the exact color against the original version.
  3. Condition counts: no fading, clean fabric, and tags without creases.
  4. Ignore listing prices and search sold listings only. Most 'rare' Beanies listed for thousands never sell.
  5. Very valuable claims need authentication, because fakes of the rare ones exist.

Questions people ask

Is the Princess Diana bear worth anything?

Usually $10 to $20. Millions were made, and listings asking thousands are not sales.

Do tag errors make a Beanie Baby valuable?

Rarely. Typos on tags were very common, and most add little or nothing.

Are Beanie Babies worth anything now?

A handful of early rarities are. The rest are worth more as keepsakes than as money.
